While mumbling and bumbling through his latest embarrassing State of the Union (SOTU) address to the American people this year, fake president Joe Biden focused heavily on trying to abolish the Second Amendment through Congress.
Calling for a national “assault weapon” ban, Biden claimed during his speech that the majority of “responsible gun owners” support this proposition, including “enhanced background checks for 18- to 21-year-olds and red flag laws keeping guns out of the hands of people who are a danger to themselves and others.”
“But we know our work is not done,” Biden further emphasized while calling on members of Congress to act swiftly in opposition to the Second Amendment. (Related: Be sure to check out the five most bizarre moments during Biden’s embarrassing SOTU speech from last year’s address.)
To push his anti-Second Amendment agenda even harder, Biden brought up 26-year-old Brandon Tsay, the “hero” who disarmed the Monterey Park mass shooter in California last month, which led to the deaths of 11 Americans.
“Brandon put off his college dreams to stay by his mom’s side as she was dying from cancer,” Biden read from his teleprompter. “He now works at a dance studio started by his grandparents.”
“Two weeks ago, during Lunar New Year celebrations, he heard the studio’s front door close and saw a man pointing a gun at him. He thought he was going to die, but then he thought about the people inside. In that instant, he found the courage to act and wrestled the semi-automatic pistol away from a gunman who had already killed 11 people at another dance studio. He saved lives. It’s time we do the same as well.”
In President “Brandon’s” mind disarming Americans by abolishing the Second Amendment is the same thing as an American citizen, in this case Tsay, intervening to stop a serious crime before it became even more of a tragedy.
Biden used the Tsay story to call on Congress to “ban assault weapons once and for all.”
“We did it before,” Biden added. “I led the fight to ban them in 1994. In the 10 years the ban was law, mass shootings went down. After Republicans let it expire, mass shootings tripled. Let’s finish the job and ban assault weapons again.”
Instead of focusing on things that really matter right now like out-of-control inflation, the endless money pit known as Ukraine, the failing financial markets, egg and other food shortages, and the millions of Americans who are struggling just to survive, Biden instead let his true agenda to abolish guns be known.
Heritage Foundation legal fellow Amy Swearer responded to Biden’s anti-Second Amendment diatribe by pointing out the failures of existing gun control laws, which criminals are already not following when they decide to commit gun crimes.
“I’m reading the transcript and he is really going to call for an AW ban right before pivoting to talk about the mass shootings in a state that already has a more restrictive AW ban than the one he’s proposing, isn’t he,” Swearer wrote in a series of tweets.
“Then he’s going to praise the actions of an unarmed man who had to be extra heroic because California (even post-Bruen) makes it a bureaucratic nightmare to protect yourself with a gun in public, while ignoring the armed hero in Indiana who also saved lives. Yup. Sure is.”
The chances of an assault weapons ban actually making it to McCarthy’s desk under a Republican-controlled House is unlikely. Still, Biden used his SOTU address to reveal that the Union is under attack by himself and his fellow gun-hating Democrats.
